Making a mold of metal products (engraving)
First, we draw the design called Hannshita(版下) in Japanese. This is the example below.

In this case below the black line will be the convex banks.

We make the plate called Genban(ゲンバン) in Japanese based on the Hanshita design.
It will be a bilateral symmetry against the finished product.

Then we engrave on the foundation of metal with engraving machine.

Moving the machine…
We sometimes make the model with clay and make the Gypsum relief and then engrave with the machine.
The model has two types, male model and female model. Male model has the same design with the finished product, but female model is the bilateral symmetry. In regular case we make female model.
This is the actual female model for pressing.

We finish the model with hand not using machine. We use this tool and microscope.
We burn the model taking into kiln.
We wash fine particles and this is the finished model! We bring it to the pressing factory.
The factory made the product using the model. See? The product is symmetry with the model.
And this is the finished product!
